Week 12 Football Coaches Poll
Using state-of-the-art technology, now for the first time ever coaches have the chance to have their voices heard implementing an anonymous key to vote for who they truly think are the top teams in their respective classifications.
Classes with enough votes weekly have their poll published. This is our final poll of the season as Georgia moves into the playoffs this week. Good luck to all teams still alive for the championships.
For the final vote of the season in Class 7A, Milton and Westlake received enough qualifying votes from the coaches across the state. Tift and Lowndes were both receiving votes last week, but lost to Camden Co and Colquitt respectively. Marietta had received votes last week as well, but even with a final week victory did not appear on the required three ballots this week.
Class 6A saw good participation from coaches in the final voting. Big match-ups among top 10 teams led to changes in the rankings. Stephenson beat Tucker live on SportalTV, vaulting the former to #4 and the latter dropped to #8. Sequoyah jumped Allatoona after beating their region rival. Coffee dropped into the others receiving votes category after a loss to #1 Lee County. Harrison’s 1 point loss in OT to #2 Creekview didn’t hurt their standing in this final poll.
Class 5A sees limited changes in this week 12 poll. Ware County lost to #7 Wayne County, dropping Ware to the others receiving votes category. Carrollton got a win in their final week, but did not appear on the required three ballots to stay ranked going into the playoffs.
In Class 4A, the only change in the final ranking was Mary Persons and Troup County switching spots. Mary Persons closed the season with a win, while Troup County got knocked out by #2 Cartersville.
The remaining classes did not have enough qualifying votes this final week.
